It’s Not Just Bad Cramps
Share

Let’s Talk About Endometriosis 💛
Let’s clear something up real quick.
If your period has ever taken you out for the day (or days), that’s not something you’re supposed to just “deal with.”
And yet… so many women do.
We were taught:
“Cramps are normal.”
“Take something and lay down.”
“It’s just part of being a woman.”
Respectfully? No.
There’s a difference between uncomfortable and life-interrupting pain.
🌸 What Is Endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it.
That tissue still acts like it’s inside your uterus, which means it:
- Thickens
- Breaks down
- Tries to shed
But it has nowhere to go.
So it can cause:
- Inflammation
- Severe pain
- Heavy periods
- Scar tissue over time
And yes… it can affect your everyday life and even intimacy.
🚩 Signs It Might Be More Than “Normal Cramps”
- Pain that stops you from working or functioning
- Needing to cancel plans every cycle
- Heavy bleeding that feels excessive
- Pain during intimacy
- Ongoing pelvic or lower back pain
- Feeling completely drained during your period
If you’re reading this like “wait… that’s me” — I see you.
🤐 Why So Many Women Go Undiagnosed
Many women go years without answers.
Because pain gets minimized.
Because we’re told it’s “normal.”
Because we second-guess ourselves.
And sometimes… because we weren’t taught what to look for in the first place.
💛 Advocating for Yourself
You are allowed to say:
- “This pain is affecting my life.”
- “I need more answers.”
- “I’d like to explore this further.”
You are allowed to get a second opinion.
You are allowed to ask questions.
You are allowed to take your body seriously.
This isn’t you being dramatic.
This is you being informed.
🛁 What Can Help Support Your Body
- Heat therapy (yes, your heating pad is working overtime)
- Gentle movement or stretching
- Tracking your cycle and symptoms
- Reducing stress where possible
- Using lubrication to support comfort during intimacy
